Our story.
Proud of our history and the generations who have worn the shirt. Discover the story of Rothley Imps, the community that shaped us and our ambitions for the generations still to come.
Rothley Imps Junior Football Club has been part of the local community for generations, giving young people the opportunity to play football, make friends and create memories that last far beyond their time on the pitch.
What began as a local grassroots football club has grown over the years, welcoming more players, teams, coaches and families while remaining true to the community values on which the club was built.
At its heart is a simple ambition: to give children a welcoming place to enjoy football, develop their confidence and feel part of a team. Every player starts somewhere, and those early experiences matter. A word of encouragement, a teammate’s support or the excitement of learning a new skill can help a child find their feet and look forward to coming back each week.
We want every child to feel valued, supported and proud to be a part of the club.
Where it all began.
Over the years, hundreds of young players have pulled on a Rothley Imps shirt, each becoming part of the club’s story. From those first nervous touches of the ball to memorable matches, muddy training sessions and end-of-season celebrations, their experiences have helped shape the club we are today.
Some have gone on to play at higher levels, others have returned as coaches, volunteers or parents themselves, and many simply look back on their time with the Imps as an important part of growing up. The friendships, confidence and sense of belonging built along the way can last well beyond their playing years.
Behind every generation of players have been the volunteers who make grassroots football possible. Managers, coaches, committee members and parents have given countless hours to ensure children in Rothley and the surrounding area have somewhere to play and enjoy the game. From setting up goals on a cold Saturday morning to organising fixtures, fundraising and offering encouragement from the touchline, their contribution runs through every part of club life.
That shared commitment connects the club’s past with its future. Each new player, family and volunteer adds something of their own, helping to give the next generation the same warm welcome and opportunities that so many have enjoyed before them.
Imps for generations.
Proud of our past. Excited for our future.
The club has evolved considerably over the years, but the principles at its heart remain the same: community, opportunity, enjoyment and a love of football. Those values continue to guide how we welcome new families, support our players and plan for the future.
As Rothley Imps continues to grow, our ambition is to give more young people the opportunity to discover the game and find their place within the club. That means supporting the volunteers who make it possible, building on what we do well and keeping children’s experience at the centre of our decisions.
We’re proud of everyone who has played a part in our story, from those who helped establish the club to the players, families and volunteers who keep it thriving today. Their contribution gives the next generation something special to build on.
There are still first goals to celebrate, friendships to form and memories to make. We look forward to welcoming the next generation of Imps and seeing what they bring to the club’s story.
